  • Phase I - $2.6MM

    Time Period: 2025 - 2027

    The former Berry’s Sawmill site is comprised of three separate parcels. During Phase I, Timbershed will purchase one of the three parcels that includes the office, re-saw mill, planer shed, and a 16,000 sq ft warehouse for manufacturing and retail.

    Activities include:

    - Continued operations of the existing retail space;

    - Operation of a commercial-scale sawmill for small-diameter timber processing;

    - Implementation of mass timber manufacturing;

    - Sale of wood products;

    - Development of wood procurement and ecological verification strategies;

    - Partnership with local organizations, agencies, and additional NGOs to accomplish shared goals;

    - Provision of good paying jobs.

  • Phase II - $4.4MM

    Time Period: 2028 - 2035

    Timbershed will purchase the second parcel by the end of 2027 to accomplish the following:

    -Renovate the legacy sawmill for ecologically verified architectural timber production;

    - Expand mass timber manufacturing;

    - Increase log deck locations for additional procurement;

    - Development of educational offerings;

    - Implementation of combined heat and power units to offset sawmill and kiln energy costs;

    - Ongoing collaboration with local organizations, agencies, and NGOs to accomplish shared goals;

    - Provision of good paying jobs.

  • Phase III - $4MM

    Time Period: 2036 +

    In the final phase, Timbershed will purchase and own the entirety of the 32-acre campus. Activities will include:

    - Sales and marketing have created a robust pipeline enabling the development of procurement strategies from other operations of similar scale and size throughout Northern California;

    - Annual treatment goals for Sonoma County will be met at 10,400 acres per year providing a local workforce with stable employment and supporting increased wildfire resilience;

    - Conservation and ecological service goals monitored and reported on;

    - Fee-for-service based offerings developed to further economic viability;

    - 10,000Mbf produced annually; 100,000 cft of mass timber panels manufactured;

    - Back of the meter combined heat and power unit installed to offset energy usage of the sawmill, kilns and other manufacturing processes. Fleet of vehicles powered through onsite energy produced from waste material;

    - Provision of good paying jobs.

Timbershed is expanding after nearly $1MM of investments from public and private entities

Timbershed is led by Regenerative Forest Solutions (nonprofit) and Forestree Collective (for-profit) with broad support from partners and consultants listed here.

  • Expand California’s in-state capacity to manufacture value-added wood products, presently a net importer;

  • Demonstrate the potential of right-sized, community-scale wood management infrastructure in service to social, ecological and economic needs;

  • Provide educational information and workshops to engage a broad audience on the importance of active stewardship.
